mpd and rmpc

mpd is a headless audio player – a music player daemon, if you will.

rmpc is a client for mpd written in Rust.

It recently came back to my attention during an aimless YouTube session when I came across Bread on Penguins video about rmpc.

Terminal apps have come a long way, which is a funny thing to say in 2026. This one is pretty intriguing, with its vaguely vim-like controls and mouse support. It even has cover art!
